U.S. city launches 10-gigabit service

Fibrant, a telecom company owned and operated by the City of Salisbury in North Carolina, and Calix Inc., a telecom equipment provider, announced this week that Salisbury, N.C., has become first city in the United States to get 10-gigabit Internet service. Robert Van Geons, Salisbury's economic development director, said in phone interview Friday that this service is available throughout the city.
