Patrice Ouimet named Cogeco’s new CFO

Cogeco Cable Inc. said Monday that Patrice Ouimet has been made the company's new chief financial officer, effective immediately. The position became vacant in July after Pierre Gagne left the company for what was described by Cogeco as "personal reasons." Cogeco said in a press release Monday that Ouimet's previous job was as chief financial officer at Enerkem Inc., a Montreal-based biofuels maker. It said he's also been vice-president of corporate development for Gildan Activewear Inc., and spent 10 years in the banking industry with companies such as Lazard Ltd. and CIBC World Markets Inc....

Pierre Gagne steps down as Cogeco’s CFO

Cogeco Cable Inc. announced Monday that Pierre Gagne has stepped down as the company's chief financial officer. The company said in a press release that he left because of "personal reasons." No replacement was named, nor was a timeline or process for finding a new chief financial officer immediately specified. Canaccord Genuity analyst Dvai Ghose said in research note Monday that while Gagne had held the position since 1995, he does not expect "any change in in the company's strategic direction." Cogeco has recently indicated its intention to use WiFi routers in people's homes to create public hotspots, has cancelled an IPTV project in favour of a partnership with TiVo Inc. and mused about the possibility of launching wireless service as a mobile virtual...
