Wearable shipments up almost 200% in Q3: IDC

Worldwide wearable shipments rose 197.6 per cent with 21 million units shipped in the third quarter this year, up from 7.1 million units in the same period a year earlier, according to a new report released Thursday by International Data Corp. Wearable shipments tripled in Q2: IDC

Technology research company International Data Corp. said said in a press release Thursday that the global market for wearables grew 223.2 per cent in this year's second quarter with 18.1 million units shipped, up from 5.6 million units shipped in the same period the previous year. IDC said in the release that Fitbit Inc., the fitness tracker, was seen as the top wearable in the market, shipping 4.4 million units in the second quarter of 2015.
