OpenText Corp. chairman Tom Jenkins was announced by Industry Canada Thursday as the new chairman of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). It said in a press release that the appointment took effect Feb. 5. Jenkins was president and CEO of OpenText between 1994 and 2005, and had experience with other technology companies and the government before that, according to his biography on the OpenText website. He was credited by Industry Canada as having "pioneered many of the technologies commonly used today to manage digital information to increase productivity and governance."
