Cogeco Cable Inc. on Wednesday reported higher second-quarter numbers for both profit and revenue, helped along by an acquisition that took effect about a year earlier. The company said in a press release that revenue for the period ended Feb. 28 was up 13.1 per cent from a year earlier to $486 million. It credited the acquisition of Peer 1 Network Enterprises Inc. in January 2013, a favourable effect of foreign-exchange fluctuations and organic growth in all units. Cogeco Cable said there was revenue growth of 2.3 per cent in its Canadian cable service operations, 14.2 per cent in its U.S. business and its enterprise services division saw its revenue almost double. Net earnings for the quarter were $60.4 million, up from $50.8 million a year earlier. The company said its TV subscriber numbers fell 13,248 during the quarter a little more than one million, Internet subscriptions were up 8,889 to 857,786 and it lost 5,946 phone subscribers to finish the quarter with 552,230.
