The Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN) will have a new CEO as Jean-Charles Fahmy takes over the role, according to a release on Tuesday. Fahmy is joining the operation after working at Coriant Inc., a data centre company, as its vice-president of product management and business development. “He has the ability to connect with employees, customers, and partners to drive results and achieve excellence. JC's vision, strategy and execution track record is exactly what CENGN needs as we enter our next chapter, which I am confident will be even more impactful and exciting than our last," said CENGN's chairman Mike Scott in a statement. Last year, CENGN received $63 million in funding from the Ontario government to deploy and commercialize the next generation of network technology, including 5G and software defined networking. Fahmy began his role Monday.
