A private member’s bill to privatize CBC/Radio-Canada met a decisive defeat Wednesday night, after members of Parliament voted 260-6 to send it to the legislation graveyard. Saskatchewan MP and Conservative Party leadership candidate Brad Trost was joined by fellow Conservative MPs Arnold Viersen, Blake Richards, Kevin Sorenson, Harold Albrecht and David Anderson in voting to send the proposed legislation to committee for further study. OTTAWA — A Conservative backbencher’s bill to privatize CBC/Radio-Canada found a little more support from party colleagues in the House of Commons Monday, but it likely won’t be enough to push it to committee stage.
