Facebook launches political campaign security pilot

Facebook Inc. will introduce a pilot project aimed at securing election campaigns for the United States midterm elections this fall.
The company said in a blog post that past elections have shown that candidates, politicians and their staff can be the targets of “hackers and foreign adversaries.” It’s a threat also highlighted by the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) last year, which said that political parties and politicians are more vulnerable than the Canadian election process itself when it comes to cyber threats.
