Google deals with declining ad rates

Google Inc. said in its fourth-quarter results that the average “cost-per-click” for ads on its sites and those of its network members decreased by three per cent over the fourth quarter of 2013. Cost-per-click for Google sites specifically was down eight per cent at the end of the three-month period ending Dec. 31, compared to a year earlier. Revenues for the quarter were $18.1 billion US, up from $15.71 billion a year earlier, Google said, but below analyst expectations, Bloomberg noted Thursday.
