Telus reports 911 call stats

Out of the more-than four million 911 calls sent across its wireless and wireline networks last year, Telus Corp. said 15 of them did not complete, the company disclosed. Telus reported the stats in its first 911 reliability report to the CRTC, filed June 1. The report fulfills a requirement established by the regulator in a May policy decision to report “on a yearly basis of any calls received by the 9-1-1 network that did not get successfully delivered to the Public Safety Answering Points,” said the letter from Telus to the CRTC. During 2015, there were “three separate outage incidents,” Telus said, including one in which 12 calls were affected.
