Bell extends CFL rights for five years

Bell Media reached a deal to extend exclusive rights to cover CFL football games for its TSN and RDS sports specialty stations, the BCE Inc. subsidiary said. In a release Thursday, Bell said the new deal gives TSN and RDS exclusive rights to the CFL pre-season, regular season and playoff games through 2018 on traditional broadcasting and digital media platforms. The deal extends a previous five-year deal that was set to expire at the end of the 2013 season, and gives Bell’s TSN- and Team radio stations radio rights to air the Grey Cup, the company said....

A $100,000 federal government investment in the Golden Triangle Angel Network will help new startup businesses in the Waterloo, Ont., region, Gary Goodyear, the federal minister of state for FedDev Ontario said. CBC/Radio-Canada continued to be the largest recipient of assistance from the CRTC's local TV fund in 2012, receiving $47 million, followed by BCE Inc. stations with $23.7 million, according to a financial statement for the fund released Friday. Twenty CBC/Radio-Canada TV stations, broadcasting in French or English, received a total of $47,158,790 from the fund, called the Local Programming Improvement Fund (LPIF), the commission said.
