The kids are back at school, the leaves are changing colour and the Blue Jays and Expos drift further from playoff contention. Obviously it is autumn in Canada. But one season remains constant in the telecom world. It is litigation season. Last month, the Federal Communications Commission south of the border issued a phone book-sized set of local telecom rules. One New York City attorney gleefully chortled, "My children will go to college on this stuff. This is a lawyer’s dream." Surveying the Canadian landscape, one suspects there won’t be many children of Canuck legalists applying for student loans. The docket is filled with cases, large and small, that should intrigue telecom observers. The most anxiously awaited is probably the Ledcor case.
