Japanese comics publisher wants info on alleged infringer from ISPs

Shueisha Inc., a Japanese publisher of comic books, has filed an application in Federal Court to compel two Canadian internet service providers to fork over the personal information of subscribers they allege have infringed on their copyright.

New wholesale rates to cost Rogers $140M, Cogeco $25M, companies say

Cogeco Inc. said Monday that the new wholesale broadband rates set by the CRTC will cost the company $25 million in retroactive payments, while Rogers Communications Inc. said it “expects to record a charge of approximately $140 million in the current quarter to account for the retroactive impact of the lower rates.”

Feds put $151 million toward new fibre cable for Nunavut

Telecoms asking SCC to review Quebec bylaw case

The country’s biggest telecoms are asking the Supreme Court of Canada to review a decision by a lower court that determined the companies were not entitled to a reimbursement of fees they paid under municipal rights-of-way bylaws that were subsequently invalidated.

Bell cuts rural broadband investment in response to new wholesale rates
