Rogers, Cogeco, Quebecor challenge ILECs at CRTC hearings

Representatives from Cogeco Inc. and Rogers Communications Inc. told the CRTC that Telus Corp.’s proposals for Canada’s wholesale framework are misleading and hypocritical, while Quebecor Inc. took aim at BCE Inc.’s “outrageous” push against the regime.

Reseller market is healthy, incumbents tell CRTC internet hearing

Two large incumbent telecoms told the CRTC that broadband resellers are not in a threatened position. BCE Inc. and Telus Corp. appeared at the commission’s proceedings into high speed internet access Wednesday.

Providers debate wholesale fibre access in rural areas at CRTC hearing

To bring affordable internet and consumer choice to rural communities, the CRTC must mandate aggregated wholesale fibre access to incumbents’ networks, stated several internet service providers (ISPs) to the CRTC on Tuesday.

Court denies stay in Bell vs CRTC case

The Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed BCE Inc.’s motion for a stay against the CRTC’s decision to mandate access to fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) facilities over aggregated wholesale high-speed access (HSA) services but will still hear the incumbent’s challenge in court.
