Groove Games has teamed up with Sports Illustrated to launch a new online game next month that company executives hope will attract a million players and $10,000 daily in revenue. It’s a new business model for the Toronto-based gaming company – one based on banner ads, product placements, brand loyalty and no fees.

WiMAX subscriber growth strong: Maravedis

Second quarter growth in broadband wireless and WiMAX subscribers topped 19% in the compared to levels in the first quarter, according to the latest issue of the WiMAXCounts Quarterly Report from Maravedis. Total subscribers in Q2 2008 is up 70% when compared to 2007’s second quarter. While subscriber growth continues, average revenue per user (ARPU) remains stable.

BC’s commercialization centre, Wavefront, has appointed Brian Roberts VP of business development. He joins the organization from Bell Mobility where he served as GM of business sales, playing a key role in an accelerated growth in BC. Roberts also worked as director of sales for Fido. Robert Mitchell has been added to Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment Ltd.s’ sales team, a move that will bolster the sales efforts of the interactive video company. McAfee adds product management veteran

McAfee Inc. has appointed Brian Foster as its senior VP of worldwide product management, effective October 1, responsible for overseeing McAfee’s global product management functions.
