SSi Micro given extension on filing for broadband funding

Monday the CRTC granted SSi Micro Ltd. an extension of the deadline for filing interventions on receiving monies from the broadband fund. Originally set for Apr. 18, the new deadline is May 16.

Google promises to restore access to news at lively committee meeting

Alphabet Inc.’s Google will stop limiting consumer access to news links on Mar. 16, company executives told the House of Commons Canadian Heritage Committee Friday. Two members of the Canadian leadership team of the tech giant appeared at a fractious session of the panel. The committee had requested that more members of the executive team, including some from the United States, show up.

Amid CRTC review, Quebecor complains of Bell ‘abuse’ of wholesale rates for fibre

Days before the CRTC announced that it would open a fresh proceeding on rates for wholesale broadband internet and would expedite a review of wholesale fibre access, Quebecor Inc. complained to the regulator that BCE Inc. is “taking advantage of its dominant or quasi-monopoly position” and abusively raising its rates for access to fibre and transport.

The CRTC Thursday approved a radio broadcasting license for Piikani Resource Development Ltd. on behalf of Piikani Tsi Nii Ka Sin Broadcasting Association to broadcast a low-power Indigenous FM radio station in Brocket, Alberta.
