New entrant wireless carriers are applauding Industry Canada for the rules regarding tower and site sharing and roaming as well as new dispute resolution guidelines for negotiating such agreements. They say the arbitration rules will allow them to strike deals with incumbents in time for their service launch deadlines.

ADTECH to offer ad services for The Weather Network and MétéoMédia

ADTECH, a leading supplier of digital marketing solutions has announced that it will be offering ad serving for The Weather Network and MétéoMédia. Both weather networks will use ADTECH’s display, video and mobile ad serving solutions on their websites, desktop applications and mobile platform. The partnership enables advertisers to sell ads on the websites of the weather networks, a move that is expected to generate an average of more than 7.5 million unique visits a month, which will in turn reach 31% of the Internet audience in Canada. Tax incentives credited with creating a global powerhouse for gaming in Canada: UK study

Canada’s video games sector slipped from third place globally to fifth place this year, but "its long term position in the top echelons of the world’s great development territories seems assured". That’s the conclusion of a comprehensive study released today in the UK which finds that generous tax incentives have lured world-class studios to Canada, although it warns that the creation of original intellectual property (IP) among independent studios continues to be a problem.

Viigo Inc. named Most Promising Company of the Year

One Stop Media Group, an international Out-of-Home digital media company, has launched what it says is the largest coast-to-coast national hotel network in Canada that includes some of the top brands in the hotel industry including Hilton Hotels, Delta Hotels, and Vintage Hotels. Former CanWest execs launch digital media consulting firm

Two former CanWest executives today announced the launch of Arcana Digital Media Strategy, a consulting firm based and website http://www.arcanacompany.com in Toronto. The firm, established by Tim Lambertus and James Larrue-Baulch, will offer services in any market category, according to a press release. Even in these tough economic times, Lambertus, who is president, says the digital market place still experiences growth and those “who fully understand the anatomy of their business will certainly weather the storm and even add to their bottom line."

Respected expert to head Innovatia research chair

Heritage minister James Moore says a decision asking the CRTC to review a rejected licence application for a French-language radio station in the Ottawa region is not motivated by politics. Nor, he adds, is it an attempt to influence the regulatory agency.

Industry Canada clearing the deck before the holidays

With the election over and the federal government now sitting again – we don’t know for how long though – Industry Canada has gotten back to business, releasing a few notices in the past week or so.
